The belt drive dosen't have as much vibration as other saws have. The Jet is alot smother running and quiter than most other saws at this price. I am very pleased with this saw. After reading all of the reviews, I still wanted this belt driven saw.The mitre gauge and rip fence were better than I expected after reading the reviews. The mitre gauge and rip fence are about the same as you would find on any other saw at this price. I have a craftsman rip fence that works well on this Jet.
After about 9 months of light cutting (maybe an hour of use a month) the motor became very erratic in speed and finally froze. I like the wide table and the slide-out extention for longer stock. I purchased this saw about a year ago. I can't find motor parts on line. Pretty good design but an under powered saw. At first, I thought it was a very good value for the price and Jet is a big name. It was quiet (relatively speaking for a saw) and cut fairly well as long as I paid attention to the fence being perfectly parallel to the blade.
Like the extensions on right and back and flexibility to move rear extension to left side. I got it for under $200 including shipping. Needs tweaking in the beginning, but still a great deal. I very happy with this purchase. Can't beat it for the price.
i use this saw all the time.IT'S AWSOME. best portable table saw i ever owned. i am a carpenter.
Big deal. As a retired builder/contractor I've been looking for a portable table saw and altho I've only used it for a few hours it has been up to the task. I'm happy, you will be too. It works well, I like the extendable table and It's packable, my old 12" Craftsman weighed a ton. Other reviewers have complained about the fence not being square. Hey, for the price it's not a problem to check the squareness of the fence with your tape.
